This Lent, Take a Few Minutes to Pray for Over 7 Billion People

Are you looking for a way to pray more during Lent? In 2019, our world is home to an estimated 7.7 billion people! Learn from Humanitarian Prayers’ author Fouad Abou-Rizk how to pray for all of them in less than five minutes.

I, Fouad, do my best to pray for every person in the world every day and would love for others to do the same. I challenge you to pray for all of humanity daily during Lent and am here to give you suggestions on how to pray for millions or billions of people in only a few sentences. A printable is available below the prayers.

40 million affected: I pray for an end to modern-day slavery and human trafficking, that perpetrators will no longer be able to get away with these violations and that justice will prevail.

50+ million children killed annually: I pray for an end to abortion, that mothers and fathers will cherish the children God has given them.

68.5 million affected: I pray that worldwide, refugees and forcibly displaced persons will be treated with mercy and compassion. I pray that wherever they go, they will be met by people with resources to help them.

Hundreds of millions affected: I pray that God will put love and peace into the hearts and minds of all who wage war. I pray that all in positions of power will seek peace with their enemies.

780 million affected: I pray for those who don’t have reliable access to clean drinking water, that water access will be expanded worldwide to provide sustainable sources for all who lack it.

1+ billion women affected: I pray for ends to rape, sexual violence, and all forms of sexual assault. I pray that perpetrators will repent and be brought to justice to show that men can no longer get away with abusing women. I pray for God’s healing for all victims.

Billions affected: I pray for God’s mercy for those who suffering from disease, illness, and injury, that they will have peace, hope, healing, and loving people to support them.

7.7 billion affected: I pray for justice, peace, and mercy for the people of every country in the world. You can also choose to name specific countries, regions, or locales.

7.7 billion affected: The Prayer of the Lady of All Nations. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father, send now Your Spirit over the Earth. Let the Holy Spirit dwell in the hearts of all Nations, that they may be preserved from degeneration, disaster, and war. May the Lady of All Nations, the Blessed Virgin Mary, be our Advocate. Amen.

    1. I will join you in prayer this Lent for all of humanity along with my family. I am going to print out each of these paragraphs and put them in a jar…we’ll pull one out each and and then keep cycling through the specific intentions throughout Lent.
