Pray for Civilian Victims of War in Yemen— 039

Join me today in praying for victims of war and conflict and Yemen. My name is Fouad Abou-Rizk and I am a Catholic who is passionate about international crisis relief. I write Humanitarian Prayers to be an advocate and help people care.

I pray that warring factions in Yemen will cease and seek peace for the sake of the common person who is suffering so much. I pray that civilian homes and medical centers will not continue to be bombed.

I pray that children will not continue to be used as soldiers.

I pray that you will put love and peace into the hearts and minds of all who wage war.

I pray that you will save each person at risk of death from starvation, disease, and other preventable causes, especially children. I pray that aid and trade will be allowed to travel throughout the country so that people can receive lifesaving and life-sustaining goods, services, and care.

I pray that displaced people will be able to have shelter, food, clean water, and the other basic necessities to live dignified lives.

Notes and Explanations

Yemen has been in a period of civil war, featuring international powers, since the Houthi rebel group overthrew the legitimate government in 2014.

The war has caused hundreds of thousands of people to be displaced and what the United Nations says in the world’s worst humanitarian crisis in 2018. 22 million of the country’s 26 million people are in need of humanitarian aid and over 8 million are at risk of starvation.

Yemen’s healthcare and education systems are essentially non-existent, partly due to a former Saudi-led blockade of the country’s ports. At least 1300 children were killed in Yemen in 2017 and almost 1000 children are suspected of being used as soldiers on both sides.
